Leschenault Biosecurity Group Executive Officer

 

Executive Officer (part time 0.6 FTE) 12 month fixed-term contract.

Position Title:                  Executive Officer

Reports to:                       Chair, Management Committee

Ordinary Hours:                 22.5 hours per week

Work Tools:                     Laptop and mobile phone will be provided

Vehicle Use:                    $0.68 per kilometre for use of private vehicle for work duties

Annual Leave:                  Four (4) weeks paid leave per year (pro-rata)

Annual Salary Range:         $85,000 to $90,000 pro-rated at 0.6 FTE

Superannuation:              Gross remuneration x 9.5%         

 

The LBG is seeking to employ a part-time Executive Officer (0.6 FTE) on a 12-month fixed-term contract with a view to extension. Possible extension to this contract will be based on performance and funding. The position is available for immediate start and flexible working arrangements are available. The duties and responsibilities associated with this position are as outlined in the Position Description attached.

The Leschenault Biosecurity Group (LBG) is a not for profit community group managed by volunteer landholders from the Leschenault catchment area and assists landholders in the control of declared pests in the local government authorities of the City of Bunbury, Shires of Capel, Dardanup and Donnybrook-Balingup in the south west region of Western Australia.

The Executive Officer role requires balancing multiple, often simultaneous activities and the ability to constantly re-prioritise to help deliver the strategic goals of the organisation. It requires a high level of professionalism, strong interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to support and work in a dynamic and forward-thinking environment. This will include providing high quality administrative and executive assistance in a variety of areas.  Experience in a similar role and in the land care sector will be considered advantageous.

The key responsibilities associated with this position are outlined in the Position Description attached. The following selection criteria are to be addressed as part of your application:

  • Essential

    • Minimum two years’ experience in a management/executive role;

    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills;

    • High level of written communication skills, including proficient use of the Microsoft Office Suite;

    • Experience in budget preparation and monitoring, as well as preparation of funding and sponsorship applications;

    • Ability to build and maintain excellent working relationships and negotiate agreements with a wide range of stakeholders;

    • Ability to engage positively with a broad range of landholders, including those from an agricultural or an environmental background;

    • Understanding of local environmental, agricultural and/or social issues;

    • Good leadership skills and experience, including effective coordination of a team;

    • Good initiative and problem-solving skills, with an ability to work with minimal supervision;

    • High attention to detail, planning, organisational and goal setting skills; and

    • Current C Class Driver’s License and a reliable vehicle.

  • Desirable

    • Qualifications/experience in governance and/or business management;

    • Previous experience working in the land care sector and/or existing networks within natural resource management in the region;

    • Environmental or agricultural knowledge and experience; and

    • Public speaking and presentation experience and awareness of marketing and promotion.
